Posting for fame

In defamation cases, celebrities, politicians and people of interests are treated differently that an average person. Could posting a blog topic catapult a person into that same category as a celebrity?

In Egypt’s bloggers want to be journalists by Stephen Franklin, writes about how foreign bloggers are faced with concerns that their blog articles may land them in jail and some are already doing time. In an article by Washington Post Magazine, one person became rather famous for their racy posting activities that led to a lawsuit by one of the people she referred to in her post. Another article writes that bloggers should use better discretion in their posts if they want to avoid a lawsuit.

How many blog posts make you a prominent online personality and open for scrutiny by the mass media or the target of lawsuit? There is perhaps not a quintessential number unless you are getting a lot of attention from other sources. In contrast, I think most would agree it’s more about the tone and substance of your post.
